DO NOT DELETE — [template] Email Integration Guide intro

If you delete this template I will come find you and make you re-write it using only one of your pinkies while “I’m a Little Teapot” blasts in the background.

If you leave this blurb in when you publish your integration guide I will also come find you.

When writing a new integration guide for an API-based partner, copy the sample steps below, clone the page titled Integration Guide Template and paste these steps in for ALL new API based integration guides you create. After the “In PagerDuty” steps, add a new heading and ordered list for the steps customers will need to take in the partner app. Replace this paragraph with your intro paragraph describing the partner app.

In PagerDuty

  1. Go to the Configuration menu and select Services.
  2. On the Services page:
    • If you are creating a new service for your integration, click Add New Service.
    • If you are adding your integration to an existing service, click the name of the service you want to add the integration to. Then click the Integrations tab and click the New Integration button.
  3. Select Integrate via email from the Integration Type menu
  4. Enter an Integration Name. If you are creating a new service for your integration, in General Settings, enter a Name for your new service. Then, in Incident Settings, specify the Escalation Policy, Notification Urgency, and Incident Behavior for your new service.
  5. An integration email address will auto-populate in the Integration Email field. The text for your email address will be based on the name you give this integration in General Settings. If you would like your email address to contain different text, you may edit it. This email address is the integration key for this integration.
  6. Click the Add Service or Add Integration button to save your new integration. You will be redirected to the Integrations page for your service.
  7. Copy the integration email address to your clipboard and point your monitoring system to the integration email address. PagerDuty will open and trigger an incident when it receives an email to this integration address.
