PagerDuty is an alerting system for IT professionals. PagerDuty connects with a variety of systems (including monitoring tools and ticketing systems) and dispatches alerts via automated phone call, SMS and email. In a nutshell, the service wakes you up when your critical systems go down, thus helping you respond to problems quickly and minimize expensive downtime.

PagerDuty works with any system that can send email or make a simple HTTP API call. This means you can add effective alerting to virtually any system, including your own in-house software.
Email integration is a breeze. Start by creating a new email service in PagerDuty, which will have its own associated email address. Then, configure your system to send email to the email address for the service. When the service receives new alert emails, it kicks off the alerting process.
API integration is even better than email. If your system can make a simple API call or run a command-line script to do this, you’ve got it made in the shade. For more details, check out our API documentation.
