What It Means For a Woman To Lead in Tech as an Individual Contributor

Jobs in technology encompass more than just software development roles. For companies like PagerDuty, where software is our business, every role touches technology. PagerDuty’s diversity initiatives span all levels of the organization, from our CAP internship program to our Board of Directors.

This year for Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, we wanted to expand our women-focused programming from last year. If you missed our 2021 event, the recording is available. For our webinar this year, our guest speaker will be Helen Beal, Chief Ambassador at the DevOps Institute, followed by a panel of executives from PagerDuty and our user community. Learn more about our March 23rd event, and sign up here to attend.

In addition to the webinar, we’ll be hosting a series of panel discussions livestreamed to our social media accounts. We love talking to women executives about what inspires them and how they manage their organizations, and this year we wanted to expand our panels to hear more stories from women in a number of individual contributor technology roles at PagerDuty, our customers, and in our community. You’ll be able to follow along with these discussions on our Twitter account, and if you’d like to ask questions, you’ll find us on Twitch as well. Don’t worry if you miss us live! You’ll be able to watch the recordings on Twitch and on our YouTube account.

We’ll be starting the week with Roshan Kindred, PagerDuty’s Chief Diversity Officer. Roshan joined PagerDuty last summer, bringing a passion for equity and belonging. We’ll be talking with Roshan about DE&I, career growth, and some of the ways women can advocate for themselves in their tech careers. Join us Monday, March 7 at 2pm EST / 11am PST

On Tuesday, we’ll be talking about SRE with Jess Ritter from our team here at PagerDuty, and Brittany Woods of H&R Block. Jess works on our SRE Delivery Team, ensuring that all our development teams have what they need to get our products to you. Brittany is a manager for Server Automation at H&R Block. She also joined us for a podcast episode last year. That panel will run Tuesday, March 8 at 2pm EST / 11am PST.

Wednesday we’ll tackle the job folks most associate with technology — software development. Our panel will feature Julianna Green, from our PagerDuty Rundeck team, Neha Wadhwa, the manager of our Event Orchestrations team, Santhoshi Shakar from our Mobile Development team, and Hannele Kormano from our App Foundations team. We’ll run that panel on Wednesday, March 9 at 2pm EST / 11am PST.

Thursday’s panel will focus on Security and Compliance. Neha Gupta, Security Engineer II, will be joining us, as well as Sarah Gori, Senior Cloud Security Consultant at ScaleSec, and Tanisha L. Turner, Senior QA Engineer in Security Engineering Productivity at Elastic. We’ll run the Security panel on Thursday, March 10 at 2pm EST / 11am PST

Finally, on Friday, we’ll feature women on our Product and Product Marketing teams. PagerDuty’s product managers and product marketing managers have a mix of technical experience they bring to the table. Julianna Nasser and Mya King will join us from our Product Management team, and Vivian Chan will be joining us from Product Marketing. Join us Friday, March 11 at 3pm EST / 12pm PST (this panel will run an hour later than the others due to conflicts).

Our panels don’t cover every role women hold at PagerDuty, but we are proud to share these stories with you as we celebrate International Women’s Day 2022. If you see yourself reflected in any of these roles, apply to join us at https://boards.greenhouse.io/pagerduty
